Diesel Displays partnered with Treehouse to bring the design of their customer service areas to life. In bringing these ideas to life, we were not only asked to work within all of our capabilities, but to also try out some new materials. My favorite was the Inhabit Living wall flats used for the Paint Desk inside of the Paint Studio. The flats create a wonderful texture and depth to the paint desk, making it one of my favorite pieces we completed in the space.
Entering a Sustainable Living Home Improvement Store
There are two entrances for the store. The main/south entrance welcomes you home, with a metal framed house structure partially clad in cedar which wraps around the largest of the service desks. There are two POS desks in this welcome area, also clad in cedar, providing a warm and inviting experience before you disperse throughout the store.
As you make your way around Treehouse, you come across a design area, where you can sit down with your own designer and discuss new flooring opIons for your home or office. We created a wall of cabinets for samples to be stored in, as well as desks anchored by storage filler cabinets with usb ports, to allow you to plug in while you create.
Swing past amazing lamps in the lighting area, and then come across the Smart Home shop in shop. This area highlights all aspects of Diesel’s manufacturing capabilities. There is a 16 foot angled aluminum truss which frames out the space. This unit was fully assembled and installed on site. A floating wall was built on site to allow for storage directly behind this department. The product wall panels are modular, allowing new product assortments to be and a new story be told. The prints were all printed on Eagle Cell material. This material was selected to ensure everything within the store, told the sustainable story of Treehouse. In the center of this shop is a table topped with iPads allowing the customer to learn about the various products, including the Nest Thermostat, and how they can improve your home environment.
As with the other areas throughout the store, if you have questions on making your home smarter, there is a group of experts stationed at the Performance desk set up which we fabricated, assembled, and then modified on site when the configuration needed to be altered to allow room for the tiny house which was built inside of the store.
At the core of Treehouse is the pulsing brain of the Tesla Battery. Treehouse, all 35,000 square feet of it, is run on solar panels, 529 to be exact. The panels store electricity on site using Tesla ba\ery packs, and on sunny days these panels actually return power to the grid. The Treehouse design team challenged us to bring this space to life, and draw in the customer. Their vision included frosted vinyl, animated LEDs and rear fill projection material to live stream the energy saving data to the customers. As a company who loves to work with digital components, we were very excited to help bring the vision of this room to life.
As you come back towards the front of the store, take a look inside the Paint design studio. Inhabit Living wall flats skin the front face of the paint customer service desk. A stainless steel countertop adds to the industrial look of the space, and a solid white high bar provides customers a place to stop and watch the paint mixers that line the back wall.
Before wrapping up your tour, don’t forget to step outside for some fresh air, and check out our multi-purpose outdoor desk. An all weather cabinet was designed for locking outdoor storage. Wrapping around the cabinet are two metal bars, both with stainless steel tops and stainless steel shelving. This allows for the space to be used for events, and live demonstrations.
We invite you to check out our newly completed project, Treehouse, located at 8021 Walnut Hill in Dallas. A sustainable home improvement store, with some of the coolest employees you’ve ever met.
