Diesel Displays was contracted to design and produce Mary Kay’s new digital solution for their National Sales Director Gallery. With over 1,800 portraits on display representing women from twenty seven countries the exhibit had a problem: The existing exhibit had run out of space. Mary Kay Inc. took the need for an update as an opportunity to revamp the installation. Their focus would be one key element – experience design.

Working together with Mary Kay, Diesel Displays mapped out solutions to their problem. In experience design you focus on creating something special for the user. Immersive design elements are used to stimulate the user while remaining easy on the eyes. Mary Kay’s new gallery achieved this.

The new National Sales Director Gallery is a set of custom, interactive digital displays. These digital displays drive audience interaction with content. Each touchscreen podium travels across the world to showcase the portraits and biographies of the company’s top direct sales representatives. Diesel Displays manufactured the finished fixtures and developed the end-user software. This allows museum visitors to direct their own personal experience within the gallery.

The installation opened in the summer of 2015 to rave reviews. Our client, and the 1,800 National Sales Directors represented in the gallery now have a transformed presence at Mary Kay Headquarters. Their stories are now functional works of art. We completed the project with experience design in mind, to captivate and drive conversation. The Mary Kay Museum in Addison, Texas is open from 9AM-4PM weekly, excluding holidays. It is free and open to the public. Trip Advisor ranks visiting the museum as one of the top 5 things to do in Addison. In addition to our displays, the museum has guided tours, Mary Kay Memorabilia, and three decades worth of international business history. For such a sleek experience design, it’s great to see it all under one roof. Make sure to take a friend and sound off in the comments what you think!
